This stem for a new cob mod was polished using this fingernail buffer from Dollar General. Well I did hit it with white rouge and carnuba after working my way through the 7 grits.

It is cheap, $1.50, and I might do 3 stems before it falls apart. Might have to try a Beauty Supply Store or WallyWorld to see if I can find separate boards in each grit.

    Nothing wrong with that!

But to be honest. Drop $14-16 on a micromesh fingernail file set...by the time you get to the final grit...you wont need carnauba to make it shine! They last forever too, plus you can wash em...

Absolutely, and $ well spent for anybody who buys estate pipes

Archer is right about this. But a cheap stop gap is useful sometimes.

I agree, we don't always have access to these things!

I just get the 1$ bottle of black nail polish and coat away. For 2$ a bottle of clearcoat turns you from hobbyist to pro!
