Drunken Poker Finished! (Not For Sale)

This is a pipe I started as a commission. When I had it about done, I ran into a large flaw and so the shape went in a different direction. It became what you see now. When I got it to this point, I found a crack running all the way across the bottom.

I tend to finish pipes I start as they are good practice, even if not what they started out as.

I made the stem for it today and didn't want to just stick a stem in it, so put some creativity into it with the bubbles. I could have gone a bit shorter, but as it's going to be a shop pipe, didn't want to spend anymore time on it.

Hopefully the bottom doesn't blow out on the first smoke.

thats a fine looking pipe for sure... Terrible luck about the bottom crack.. Maybe you could use some pipe mud to keep the bottom from blowing out for a while?

Would it be feasible to put an inlay into the bottom to stabilize it from further cracking. Beautiful work seems a shame to let it continue cracking.

Nah, the way I drilled it....... No was to pipe mud it. But the crack can't be seen on the inside so it may be ok anyway. It was a fun one to make and I'll enjoy it as long as I can.

Well, I've had 4 smokes out of the pipe so far and it's not blown up yet........ Never actually thought about it, but ol gto gave me an idea. I could possibly glue another piece to the bottom of the pipe, thus covering the crack and helping stabilize it. But, I probably won't with this one.

Yeah.. since its gonna be a shop pipe, I say smoke it till ya broke it.. lol
It's a beauty even taking into account the cracked bottom, but it'll be much more beautiful with a nice trail of smoke raising from it to the heavens.
