I stopped in a "tobacco" store today, yall know the kind, head shop lightly disguised as a tobacco shop. Well, the guy had a surprising amount of pipe tobacco, including some MacBaren and Peterson tins. He also had a few pouches of Edgeworth Ready Rubbed. He's been there for a long time, so it's not inconceivable that he'd have some left over. Does this stuff live up to the hype? Should I pick it up for trade fodder? Or will I become instantly addicted upon touching it?
I would go back and promptly purchase whatever he has in stock. Great stuff and very valuable in trade since it is OOP.
From what I understand from being here for a few months, this is like finding a Van Gogh at a flea market! So stop what you are doing, buy it all and report back
It's the real deal. No fake ERR'd out there as far as I know. It's discontinuance has been recent so folks will find it on occasion. I found 2 tubs at a B&M a few months back. Good stuff! Definitely the king of OTC's.
I got my three tubs of it when JRCigars had it on clearence when they were notified that Lane was no longer going to be making it. Definitely the King of OTC's.
This is confounding. If tobacco like this is so good, why do they stop making it? Sent using Forum Runner
That's the question for the ages. ERR'd was an excellent OTC burley, the finest IMHO. It sold well. It had market presence. Name brand recognition. Everything it takes to make a successful sales run. The only thing I can figure is that perhaps they couldn't continue to make it taste the same as it did. When Lane bought the brand from the Larus Brothers, it just died. Perhaps it would have died anyway. Suffice it to say that your question is a good one. Someone knows the answer but they aren't telling. I'm as confounded as you!
IMHO ERRd was the best OTC tobacco ever made. I have two tubs left and am rationing them accordingly. Smokey
EERd is my go to baccy. I have been smoking it since I was in college 40 years ago. When it was going to be discontinued I bought what is for me a lifetime supply. One happy camper.
In the interim, try a couple oz of the Altadis match blend. Yeah, it's a match blend and yeah, it's Altadis but I was pleasantly shocked at how close it is. In fact the only differences I found were that the Altadis was lighter in color and the plugs were slightly larger. I doubt I could tell the difference in taste in a blind test. I was overwhelmed with surprise! Try it - you might enjoy it. Thanks to Smokehouse for turning me on to this.
