I'm the same way Travis. Half the time I get to work, take a look around, & wonder how the hell did I get here.
I do have a morning routine but it's too boring to type step by step. Up at 5, shower, cook the same breakfast daily (eggs, canadian bacon and a banana) for my daughter and myself, feed the dog and let him out to do his business, load a pipe and pick a tobacco that I plan to smoke at lunch and for the ride home and out the door by 6.
For me its up at 5:00 am. Let the dogs out. Shower. Make my French Press of Home Roasted Beans. Leave for work and I am usually there by 5:50am. Once I get to work I walk around our main complex and open all the doors and turn lights on, then go back to my office drink coffee and load up a Burley blend of some sort in the same pipe everyday and get on PSF. Then the boss comes in at 7:00 and we go into his office and have our morning meetings for an hour and then off to work until 2:30 and Im home by 2:45. Today Stonehaven is the blend of choice.
My morning routine is pretty variable, as I don't have a regular schedule. If I'm at home it involves waking up, laying in bed fretting about my Dissertation and trying to work out which section of it I'm going to deal with today. I then haul myself out of bed, stick some clothes on, faff about with my moustache for a bit and taking a few pinches of snuff. I'll then pop downstairs and make a cup of tea and something for breakfast, before returning to my room and sitting down in front of the computer for hours, wondering why I though university was a good idea. ~11 I'll pop out for a smoke. If I'm at my girlfriends we wake up, listen to the radio, and take turns to make coffee and breakfast. We'll lounge about for a bit before getting dressed. Then I head home and get started on my dissertation. Probably have a pipe about 1pm on these days. I much prefer the latter.
I usualy unlock the gate at about 5:45am and think i dont remember those last 3 intersections i hope no one was coming.
Up at 5:30 AM, coffee and a light breakfast while watching the news online. I then exercise at 6:30 for about 45 min, take a shower and out of door by 7:45. No time for a pipe in the AM, but i"m already lusting for one by the time I come home from work. I only smoke a morning pipe on the weekends.
Drag carcass out of bed at 5:45 am. Hit the hot tub to get the joints moving. Spend a good 20 minutes shaving. On top of the pipe smoking insanity I also converted to double edged (shaving like your grandpa) wet shaving. Think pipe smoking is and involved hobby??
You left out digging through laundry to find the least stiff clothing...lol! Sent from my iPad using Forum Runner
I get up every day between 3 and 5 PM and make a pot of coffee of which I enjoy a cup usually with a cigarette. After I'm up for about 30 minutes, I enjoy my first bowl of the day. I then eat dinner, and enjoy another bowl, or two before heading off to work at 9:30PM. I know it's kinda messed up, but that's life on graveyard shift.
Im a touch oc, so I have a very steady and timed morning.... On work days anyway. I get up 2 and a half hours before I have to clock in... Fix me a bowl of cereal, and a glass of iced tea. Then I sit in front of my computer and pack my hillbilly oldschool cob up with Half and Half. Once that bowl is fired up, I start checking forums and emails...Usually, they both finish about the same time. I dump my cob and put it away and pick out the three pipes I'm gonna carry with me to work, and pick out a couple blends to smoke while there. I tend to steer clear of english blends as I smoke outside in the designated smoking area at wallyworld, so usually, its some decent otcs, like H&H, CA, SP Whiskey, SWRA or something along those lines that I have on hand. By this point and time, usually, it's getting close to time for me to start my walk, so I get dressed in my work uniform, pack up my lunch (usually leftovers), and pick out another pipe.. This is usually one of three pipes I like to take with me when I go walking as they are lighter weight and easier to clench without the whole, bouncing bowl and jaw stiffness. I stuff that pipe with one of my work blends and wait for 30 minutes till clock in time. Everything goes into my reusable grocery bag, and the pipe is stuck in my teeth as I head out the door.. Once outside, I light it up and start walking to work. Depending on conditions, within 15-20 minutes I'm finishing off the bowl as I stand by the wallyworld, unless it's exceptionally windy, in which case, the bowl full of ash gets dumped before I make it. Usually, about 5 minutes before clock-in time, I dump my ashes, and head to the time clocks in the back of the store. I do this routine pretty much spot on... On days off, well... Im off.. so I just do whatever I want... it starts out the same, but I get up whenever I get up... and I can hang around my in my boxers as long as I like..lol
My morning ritual is just a cup of coffee, a reading of the sports pages, and checking the Internet news sites and THEN enjoying a bowl
I first wander over to the computer and boot it up. Then next into the kitchen and check my blood sugar level (diabetic). Next I zap a cup of left over coffee and head back to the computer and load up a bowl. Then stare dumbly at the screen till the caff&nic kick in after a few sips of each.
I usually beat the alarmclock untill I realise that even though I set it 15 minutes fast, I had better get my lazy ass out of bed ( around 5:30 ish real time) then I jump into my work uniform and boots retrieve my pocket contents from my hat , get my lunch from the fridge , grab an energy drink and run out the door, get in the car and drive for 20 minutes just to sit around outside the plant and BS with the old toolmakers and learn stuff that they dont tell the other apprentices because they arent at work yet...then a bit later I wake up ( brain function) around 10 am and try to figure out how I survived the previous 3 hours of working in a dangerous environment whilst milling about in a zombie like state. either that or I wake up to my kids arguing outside my bedroom door...then I spend the rest of the morning wondering why any child sharing my genes is awake at such an ungodly hour of thier own accord.
