Hi everyone Do you guys have any suggestions for quick smoke break pipes? I mean like 10 minutes. Maybe there are pipes out there with smaller bowls? This week on my way to work I smoked half a bowl and the other half at lunchtime. I know it May not be good for the pipe so I dont want to always do this.
MM Missouri Pride and the old Kaywoodie 01 Yachtsman are nice lunch break pipes and not expensive in case some yutz at the office grabs it outta your mug and runs off with it!
Peterson Belgique. Tiny sub-Dunny size 1 bowl. Pocketable (shirt). $70 Brebbia "Go-Go" (PSF Pipe Reviews). Sooper small author, squashed tomato shape. Less than 4", nosewarmer length. $40 Otherwise, load partials or DGT what pipes & leaf ya got. $0 Ed Puff
I use a Grabow Lark for smoke breaks, just fill the amount needed for the time period (1/4, 1/2, and such) empty and reuse for next break.
Smoking half a bowl to work and the other half at lunchtime is not bad for the pipe at all. This is actually referred to as DGT'ing a bowl. (DGT = delayed gratification technique). When I do this, in order to prevent the ashes and toby from spilling out, I take a pipe cleaner, form into a coil, and push the coil into the bowl. Usually there's enough pipe cleaner that one end leaves a "tail" which you can use to pull the coil out.
Sweet i didnt know that you could do this. Thats some good news, i was thinking that it would be bad for the briar to do that.
Yeah, I fire up a bowl on my way to work, and let it go out when I get there, and relight on my first 15 minute break. I reload at lunchtime, and finish it on my last break. It works pretty well actually, especially with a VA or VA/Per blend.
I find my Missouri Pride cob works really well in general. Nice little corn cob pipe...just pack it lightly and/or use a fine cut tobacco and you're all set (flakes aren't good for 10 minute breaks, and I'm not a big fan of the "DGT" personally). I also have a tiny little Grabow Savoy....they come in assorted sizes of course, but the one I have is actually SMALLER than the Missouri Pride. With some Kendal Dark or Five Brothers, it takes only a few minutes to get a smoke in.
I use brier more frequently, my cobs I find are too large to carry continuously. I use the cobs in my truck back and forth to the facility, DGT on the was home, briers on site.
My MM-cob, takes a beating, which is good. Medico Rogue or my Kings Cross Featherweight, both have smaller bowls and smoke well. Easy when you don't have a lot of time or are on the go.
