Here at last, the "COBBER" The all Australian corn cob Falcon. Wanted by many, had by few!

Not sure if I want to make another though :startle:

Nifty little creation you have there. I wouldn't mind having one of those

Well done sir. You should take Scworrell up on his offer ;).

Mmm. What we need is a supply of cheap cob and Falcon bowls. They need to have matching bores or at least close to make it easier.
I was thinking of emailing MM to see if they would send unfinished bowls without stems. Doesn't hurt to ask. The cob not so much of a problem as the falcon bowls. Mmmm now I've had an idea for that! don't need falcon bowls at all just some blank rod with a four start thread, easy! Then a four start thread in the bottom of the cob, or smaller thread if needed. Glue and screw and she's all over.
    Cheers Rolf.

Really great work. Wish you'd make me one - please PM me with a price!

MM may well supply cobs to you - I know Jake Hackert gets his from MM - they developed a special breed of cob for smoking not eating.

    Best meantime

Good work. Alway nice to see some engineering in a pipe.

F-ing A Tas...that's some damn fine innovation there. Hell you should contact Falcon and sell them the idea! :thumbsu:

Very cool. What thread size/pitch did you use?

Nice pipe! For many, that is the best of two worlds.

    Way, way, cool, Tas.

By the way, the word "cobber" used in Oz does not exist in american english. You might explain the double meaning.

I'm not crazy about cob pipes and I've only seen a few Falcons that I've liked, but that, my friend, is pretty cool! How did you even come up with that idea? I was thinking you could name it the "Falcorn."

Cobber makes me think of cobbler and then I think I would want to eat it (which would neither be good for my stomach or for my pipe smoking hobby [not to mention my teeth]). Pretty cool. :goodjob:

    Hi All,

as I understand it "Cobber" means mate or friend in "Strine."

I know Tas has had difficulty getting the thread right and has put a lot of work into this.

A thought struck me , back in the day when cameras used film and zoom lenses were made out of old milk bottles we used to amass a collection of prime lenses which was great until you decided to change camera body brands and then the bayonet fitting didn't work and you couldn't mount the old lenses on the new camera body ..... unless you bought an adaptor ring which would at least let you use your old lenses in manual mode.

I wonder if turning an adaptor out of hard wood or even metal and then glueing or screwing the cob bowl to the adaptor might be the way to go? If the cob burned out the owner could simply glue/screw a cot off cob to it????

Don't know if it'd work, I think it would, but I don't have the hand or engineering skills to make one,

    Best to all

My Falcon has 3 threads so I'm curious how to do it?
