I'm a tripoli man for buffing , followed by carnuba . I'm out of tripoli [ bummer ] but I got this white rouge stuff . I'm wondering if I can use it and , if so , how will it compare to tripoli ? Never used the stuff , dont even know why I have it around . Any help would be great :)

No doubt someone more informed than me will chime in - but I think the stuff you have is for metals John, so proceed with caution!

Yeah , I'm thinking somethings different about it also . I probably got it for buffing knife blades and forgot about it . I'll hold off for sure . Thanks OT

I go straight from sanding to white rouge to carnuba on briars. White rouge is slightly higher grit than tripoli. Use it with piece of mind.

Sorry I did not spot this thread sooner, but hopefully better late than never.

Yeah I missed it too but DG is correct - it's just finer grit, and usually is used after brown trip.

I sand to either 600 or 1000, then brown trip, white diamond, then carnuba and final buff. Around 250 grit, I'll buff with trip....helps these old eyes pick up scratches. Then it's back & forth until I get the finish I'm looking for. Finally stain, then back to the wheel.
